Spring High School which was implemented by VICDA has benefited with kshs.400,000 to equip the school laboratories for science subjects. This donation was facilitated by the area Member of Parliament Honorable Raymond Moi and his entire Rongai CDF team in 2014;

KIENI HIV/AIDS Women Group in Nyeri,Kenya April,2014 & January,2015:
The group benefited with medicine,food and spirulina supplements. The group have been struggling with medication and the right diet for their patients which has caused an increased in the number of unnecessary deaths.
Spirulina supplement have been able to boost the patients body immunity is a very high rate which is from bed-ridden to healthy working individuals.

Mama Tunza Children Orphanage in Ngong,Kenya December,2014:
The orphanage benefited with a water pump and grinding machine.
The water pump is being used to pump the water from the source to the greenhouse within the orphanage which was donated by K.I.D.S Initiatives in April,2013 as a source of children nutrients and income for the orphanage.
The grinding machine is to be used for labeling of cloth designs done by the orphanage where the buying of the sewing machines were also facilitated by VICDA through a cash donation from K.I.D.S Initiatives in April,2013.
Lemolo A Water Harvesting Project at Kimugul Primary School in Nakuru,Kenya January,2015:
Installation of water harvesting project at Kimugul Primary School where the water is being used by children for school feeding program,drinking and cleanliness.
This area is completely dry and has been lacking water. The water project is making a big impact to the children in school;
Our next project in the school is to implement Irrigation farming within the school where we have set aside 3 acres to be utilized for the purpose of sustainable school feeding program where the implementation will take place from month of April,2015;
Shalom Primary School in Nakuru,Kenya Construction of 8 Additional Toilets April & December,2014:
Shalom Primary School benefited with 8 additional toilets from K.I.D.S. Initiatives in the year 2014. The school is having a total number of 561 children where initially the boys and girls had 4 toilets respectively. The additional of 8 more toilets(4 for girls & 4 for boys) have been provided to meet the school demand based on the number of students in school.
Donated a Green House to Ndia-ini Primary School in Nairobi,Kenya:
A green house has been donated to this school to support the school feeding program for the children;The School has also benefited with a water tank to be used for the greenhouse purpose.
A cow for Shelter!
Dairy Cow – Donated to Shelter Children Home in Ngong January,2015:
This donation came through a group of individual donors who support other projects in Kenya through VICDA. The donation will help the orphanage to cut the expenses due to availability of milk which is mostly used by children in the orphanage.
As you can see, the children at Shelter are excited by the new addition!
Kimugul Primary School at Lemolo A is Open!
We are so excited to share with you that Kimugul Primary School at Lemolo A is officially open and children are already there, busy learning!
At the end of July the Nakuru county governor, His Excellency Kinuthia Mbugua officially opened the school and celebrated with the community. In addition to his official duties, Governor Mbugua generously donated 400 school uniforms, sanitary towels for the girls, 500 tree seedlings and 40 bags of maize. These donations were a complete surprise to the people living at Lemolo A and, as you can imagine, the celebrations were joyous and full of thanksgiving.
VICDA would like to thank World Teacher Aid who made the construction of this school possible and who have changed the lives of the children in the Lemolo community. Thank you, also, to Governor Kinuthia Mbugua for his generosity and support.
Caring for the Children of Africa provides food for Lemolo children
Caring for the Children of Africa, an Australian NGO, has provided food for the children at Lemolo A and B camps. Distributed through the schools where about 750 children attend, this program will feed them for 4 months. Maize, beans and maize flour were provided. This is valuable nutrition that these kids rely on to get them through the school day.
VICDA would like to thank Annie Copley and Caring for the Children of Africa for their continued work and generous contributions to the children at Lemolo camps.
Desks donated to Manjani Mingi Primary School in Rongai
Once again, Caring for the Kids of Kenya (USA) has assisted IDP children in by outfitting Manjani Mingi Primary School in Rongai with 82 new desks earlier this month. The desks will serve the 246 children in attendance where they can now sit comfortably at 3 children per desk. To date, VICDA partners have donated close to 400 desks to school children at Manjani Mingi and have thus assisted in their education.

VICDA would like to thank Sister Fund (USA) and Caring for Kids of Kenya (USA) for their generous donation to the IDP resettlement project at Lemolo A. As a result of their generosity, 130 chairs and 9 tables have been purchased for the children who attend Lemolo ECD school. Before the chairs arrived, the students were sitting on hard rocks during class. These donated chairs, along with other seats and tables donated from other generous individuals and organizations, have helped to complete the classrooms for the children in attendance and have contributed to their education.

Shalom Primary School
VICDA was very excited to partner with World Teacher Aid, a Canadian organization, to construct Shalom Primary School in the Giwa IDP Resettlement in Rongai, Kenya. The children living at Giwa have had a very traumatic few years as they were violently displaced after the 2007 presidential election. In addition to living in small tents in overcrowded IDP Camps these children had virtually no access to education for about 4 years. The construction of Shalom Primary School was an important project for the Kenyans living in the area and serves as an enormous step forward as they begin to rebuild their lives in their new homes.
Currently 567 students attend Shalom Primary School. Shalom was the first primary school to be constructed in the area and includes classes 1 thru 8, an administration block and 3 toilet blocks. The construction costs approximately $110,00 USD and will be in use for generations to come.
Both VICDA and the residents at Giwa are grateful for World Teacher’s Aid and the work that they have done in the community. Last year donors from World Teacher’s Aid traveled to Kenya to meet the residents of Giwa and to search out new areas in need of schools and donations.

Great news! We’ve just announced the dates and itinerary for the 2013 Voluntourism trip! This is a fantastic opportunity to both see the beautiful land of Kenya and to serve. Be sure to check out trip details and feel free to contact us with any questions!
This trip is perfect for:
- Families! We intentionally scheduled the trip between Summer Camps and the start of school so that families can participate. This is a fabulous and safe way to show your children another part of the world and for them to make lasting memories!
- Teachers! Again, the scheduling of this trip allows teachers to be a part of it! More than half of the camp residents are children and we are seeking enthusiastic teachers to be a part of this experience!
- Second time travelers! You may have gone on a safari in Kenya or another part of Africa, but this is a new experience for most travelers – even seasoned ones.
- Professionals with limited time off! We pack a lot into this weeklong trip, this is a great way to both see and experience Kenya with just one week off of work.
- Doctors! It’s a medical camp after all, your skills will certainly be put to use!
World Teacher Aid’s Work With VICDA

World Teacher Aid worked with VICDA to construct a beautiful 8 room elementary school house at the IDP Camp in Rongai which serves more than 600 children.
