Kenya has more than 2 millions orphans due to HIV/AIDS and other diseases, not to mention children orphaned by political and tribal violence. Orphaned children without guardians or family to care for them are usually taken to one of the hundres of orphanages across Kenya. VICDA currently helps to sponsor 30 of these orphanages, a number that is growing quickly. By supporting these orphanages, VICDA commits to sponsoring the children’s education, empowering the projects through micro finance projects and placing volunteers to support the staff by assisting with childcare.
